Cellulite is one of the many concerns of men and women alike because of the lumpy appearance it gives to the skin. It is a condition where fat deposits place themselves in between connective tissues making them look like lines on your body. Cellulite is most often seen on thighs, buttocks, hips, and at the back of the arms for some people.
Although there is a misconception that cellulite is caused by toxins, a healthy diet indeed helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Since it occurs when fats push through the layer of tissue underneath the skin, the diet that is most needed is a diet that breaks down these fat deposits or a diet that is low in fat.
Here are some food groups and diet tips that you can exchange for the calories and fat that you may have been consuming:
- Eat fresh and organic vegetables and fruits
Basically, all vegetables and fruits can aid in reducing cellulite especially when they are organic and fresh. This is because they help draw out the already existing fat that accumulated in your body. More veggies and fruits in your body can help prevent fats and toxins from staying and clumping underneath your skin. To add to that, they are low in calories and rich in fluids that maintain your weight even if you lessen the calorie intake.
- Replace processed grains with whole grains
Whole grains are rich in fiber and they help to manage your weight. To increase your consumption of whole grains, you can eat brown rice instead of white rice. You can also try wheat bread rather than white bread.
- Eat more antioxidants
Antioxidants aid in breaking down the fat that makes up cellulite. Foods rich in antioxidants are berries, salmon, and dark chocolate. Salmon is a rich source of antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 is important in strengthening connecting tissue so that they do not get pushed by fat just underneath them.
- Drink green tea
Who says that a diet only includes food? Green tea has been famous because it is known to boost metabolism which aids in burning fat. A fast metabolism allows you to burn the fat that otherwise pushes through connective tissue. It also has a low amount of caffeine that helps in flushing out toxins.
- Hydrate
Drinking at least 8 glasses of water helps a lot in flushing out extra fat residing in the body. You can also add slices of lemo
ns to your water (but be careful not to turn it to lemon juice!) because citrus fruits increase the rate of your metabolism. Moreover, water keeps your hunger at bay so that you do not keep on consuming unhealthy snacks in between meals.
